Local authors bring home the bling from Florida book awards – Tallahassee Democrat

The Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) President’s Awards ceremony, held Aug. 1 by Zoom due to COVID-19 concerns, was infected by a different virus: Hackers shut down the program before the first winner was announced.

But the FAPA administrators quickly provided a PowerPoint featuring all the winners.

The list includes seven members of Tallahassee Writers Association who brought home a combined total of eight medals: 4 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze. Bruce Ballister scored two medals, a bronze in Adult Fiction – Sci-Fi for “Room for Tomorrow” and a gold in Health for “The Zipper Club.”
